Our beautiful baby #4 was born on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 ... 6 days AFTER her due date. 🤯
I never would have dreamed that my fourth baby would be late. My body was so uncomfortable; I thought she'd go early, for sure! But just like all of our babies, Miriam needed her own birth story. 😉
I don't really have Braxton Hicks contractions in my pregnancies. When my contractions start, it's go time! So when I started having some super mild contractions a week-and-a-half before Miriam's due date, I thought that was the beginning of the end. ... It wasn't. And I basically had no other signs of labor. My due date came and went. I called to schedule my induction the day after my due date because I was fairly miserable at the end of Miriam's pregnancy. My body was worn out! For good reason ... 4 babies in five years and Miriam literally right after Elisha! And it's good I scheduled my induction because the earliest they could get me in was Wednesday, 6 days after my due date. We arrived at the hospital a little before 4am that Wednesday morning. I started the pitocin by 5am. I thought for sure Miriam would come quickly. Again, she had her own plans. I got my epidural early, and I was given pitocin for about 8 hours before she decided to come. I hit 6cm, and my epidural started to wear off. I asked for more epidural meds, and then grabbed Darrell's hand and cried and breathed through the pain. Thankfully, my anesthesiologist gave me more medicine just in time. By the time my doctor arrived, baby and I were ready! 5 minutes of pushing, and our beautiful girl was out! Thank you, Jesus!
Miriam has added so much joy and so many lessons learning to our lives. I am learning so much about dependence on the Lord and walking in freedom in this season of my life. God is so gracious, and I am so thankful for our Miriam Joy. ❤
